DESOTO, Texas — #1 Duncanville and #3 DeSoto -- both defending state champions -- will square off on at 2 p.m. Saturday in Desoto, in a weather-delayed kickoff.
The biggest high school football game of the 2023 season -- and according to MaxPreps, the biggest high school football game in America this week -- Duncanville and DeSoto will play the most highly-anticipated regular season high school football game in recent memory. And it will be broadcast right here on WFAA.com, on WFAA+ and on the WFAA YouTube channel.
Top-ranked Duncanville features a stellar defense that has allowed just 26 points throughout the entire 2023 season. Led by superstar defensive end Colin Simmons, the Panthers defense has pitched four shutouts in their seven games this season. And the Panthers offense features LSU commit Caden Durham at running back, and five-star standout Dakorien Moore at wide receiver.
DeSoto comes in ranked 3rd in the state. The defending 6A-Division II State Champions feature star quarterback DJ Bailey, a stable of running backs including Tiger Riden and Marvin Duffey, and collection of standout receivers, led by Daylon Singleton and freshman superstar Boobie Feaster. The Eagles defense has been similarly stingy this year, allowing just 13.1 points per game in 2023. Senior Brandon Booker leads the Eagles with 71 tackles on the year.
