Forney, Rockwall battle in pivotal district game on Friday Night Football on WFAA+

The little brother of NFL legend Adrian Peterson takes the field for Forney.

ROCKWALL, Texas — The winner of Friday night's battle between Forney and Rockwall will likely stamp their ticket to the postseason. The loser will still have work to do over the final weeks of the regular season.

Forney and Rockwall were both expected to be playoff teams in 2024 at the outset of the season, and both are still expected to be key ingredients in the postseason. But the winner on Friday will have a smoother path to the postseason, as the regular season winds to a close over the next few weeks.

You can watch the game live on our streaming platform WFAA+, which is available on Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV. You can also watch the game right here on WFAA.com, or our WFAA YouTube channel.

Forney features junior quarterback Nelson Peterson, a four-star prospect and a dual threat quarterback who has made big plays all season for the Jackrabbits. He's also the younger brother of NFL legend Adrian Peterson, the fifth-leading rusher in NFL history.

Forney's star running back, Javian Osborne, is also spectacular, garnering dozens of scholarship offers as one of the top five running backs in the country in the junior class. Osborne is a prime target for the Texas Longhorns.

For Rockwall, senior quarterback Landyn Locke tore his ACL in early September, but junior Brent Rickert has stepped in admirably. Rickert has the weapons on the outside to make things happen in a hurry, with Triston Gooch, Camron Marsh, and Jack Duckworth.

Defensively, Forney is led by four-star Texas A&M prospect Kelvion Riggins and fellow linebacker Landry Hopkins.

Rockwall's defense is led by safety Will Ashworth, who patrols the middle of the field as part of the Yellowjackets 3-3 stack defensive scheme.

Our Friday Night Football pregame show will begin at approximately 7:20 p.m. CT, with kickoff to follow at 7:30 p.m. CT. Join Mike Leslie and Hek'ma Harrison on the call for Week 8 of the Texas high school football season.
