SAN ANTONIO — One day after a controversial buzzer beater review in the semifinals, Lipan defeated Shelbyville, 47-36, in the 2A State Championship to claim the school's second straight title.
The Lipan Indians (36-4) championship win on Saturday at the Alamodome in San Antonio marked the school's sixth title in program history. The Indians also won state in 1994, 2005, 2017, 2018 and 2023.
Freshman guard Court Gaylor led the Indians with 23 of the team's 47 points. Shelbyville shot 33.3% from the field and only 11.8% from beyond the 3-point line.
DJ Barnes led the Shelbyville Dragons with 14 points.
Lipan returns to 2A District 11 for the 2024-25 season.
