PINEHURST, N.C. — Bryson DeChambeau is bringing home his second major championship win.

DeChambeau won the U.S. Open Sunday with a six under par performance, eking out a win one stroke behind Rory McIlroy, who hasn't won a championship since 2014.

This is DeChambeau's second major championship win. His first win was also at the U.S. Open in 2020.

A North Texan, DeChambeau went to college at SMU. In his amateur career, he became the fifth player in history to win the NCAA Division I championship and the U.S. Amateur in the same year. With his first U.S. Open win, he became one of just three players to win all three of those championships.

The only other two golfers to do that were Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods.

DeChambeau put on a stellar performance throughout the tournament. Going into round 3, he had a three-stroke lead.

Ultimately, the win was sealed with a shot from the bunker.

With the win, DeChambeau will not only bring home a trophy, but also a $21.5 million purse.
