COLLEGE STATION, Texas — It ain't about how you start, it's about how you finish -- and that's exactly how Texas A&M saw tonight's matchup with No. 8 LSU.
Despite a slow start, the Aggies were able to defeat the Tigers 38-23.
Through the first half of the game in College Station, the Aggies struggled offensively, as quarterback Conner Weigman completed 6 of 18 passes for just 64 yards.
Down 17-7 in the third quarter, Aggies' Head Coach Mike Elko benched Weigman and turned to redshirt freshman QB Marcel Reed.
Reed took this primetime opportunity and ran with it -- literally.
Upon entering the game, the dual-threat quarterback immediately ran for a touchdown to get the Aggies within three points -- and it was all downhill from there.
Reed went on to rush for two more touchdowns, all while completing just two passes for 70 yards.
The Aggies' defense also showed up in a huge way Saturday night as they picked off LSU QB Garrett Nussmeier three times, creating extra opportunities for the Aggie offense in the second half.
