FRISCO, Texas — Ezekiel Elliott and the Cowboys have reached an agreement on a contract, National Football League insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported on Monday morning.
Per additional reports, the contract is a one-year deal worth $3 million -- $2 million of which is guaranteed.
The deal will be finalized pending a physical set to take place Monday morning, reports say.
The No. 4 overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft, Elliott spent seven seasons with the Cowboys before owner Jerry Jones announced in March 2023 that Elliott would not return to the team. He later signed a one-year deal with the New England Patriots, and led that team with 642 rushing yards on the season.
Elliott twice led the NFL in rushing as a Cowboys player -- rushing for 1,631 yards in his rookie campaign and for 1,434 yards in 2018.
He rejoins a beleaguered Dallas running backs room whose leading rusher last year -- Tony Pollard, who ran for 1,005 yards -- signed a deal this offseason with the Tennessee Titans.
Elliott now sits atop a Cowboys running back depth chart also featuring Rico Dowdle, Deuce Vaughn, Hunter Luepke and recent free agent signee Royce Freeman.
The team did not select a running back in the 2024 NFL Draft, as expected.
