ARLINGTON, Texas — The Texas Longhorns got off to a fast start against Oklahoma State in the Big 12 championship game in Arlington and hasn't looked back. UT's quarterback Quinn Ewers has been a big reason.
In just their first two possessions, the Horns’ signal-caller was 6-for-6 for 121 yards and two touchdowns for a passing rating of 379.4. He finished the first half with 354 yards and four touchdown passes. Those four scoring strikes ties a Big 12 championship record for most TD passes in a half.
By the third quarter, Ewers was over 400 yards passing, which set the new record for passing yards in a Big 12 Championship game, breaking Sam Bradford's record of 384 yards in 2008.
Texas had a 35-14 lead at halftime. They extended the lead to 42-14 in the third quarter.
