Grambling State beats Texas college in biggest blowout in NCAA history – men's or women's

The Grambling State women's basketball team beat College of Biblical Studies, a Houston-based college, by 141 points.

GRAMBLING, La. — Grambling State women's basketball started the new year off with a bang, setting the all-time NCAA record for the largest margin of victory for any men's or women's Division I basketball history.

Grambling State beat Houston-based College of Biblical Studies (CBS) 159-18 on Jan. 2. The 141-point victory is the largest blowout of any Division I basketball game ever. The previous record was set by Savannah State in 2018, who beat Wesleyan (Georgia) 155-26, according to ESPN

CBS is in its first year as a program and plays in the Southwest Region of the Division II National Christian College Athletic Association.

According to ESPN, Grambling State started on a 34-0 run before CBS scored with 2:14 remaining in the first quarter. The score was 82-10 at halftime.

CBS turned the ball over 57 times and shot 18.6% from the floor, according to the Grambling State box score. Thirty-nine of those 57 turnovers were Grambling State steals.

The Grambling Lady Tigers ended their non-conference schedule with a 6-5 record and open SWAC play on Saturday against Prairie View A&M University. CBS plays Champion Christian College at home on Saturday.
