Top-ranked bull rider Stetson Lawrence hosts screening of short film about his life in Fort Worth

"Another Eight Seconds: The Stetson Lawrence Story" documents the North Dakota native's climb to the top of bull-riding world rankings through tragedies and injuries

FORT WORTH, Texas — Within the hype and excitement of PBR’s World Championship Finals in Dallas-Fort Worth, a local bar hosted nine-time PBR World Finals qualifier and American pro bull rider Stetson Lawrence for a screening of a short film highlighting his career.

Fort Worth bull riding fans attended the launch party for "Another Eight Seconds: The Stetson Lawrence Story" on Thursday, May 16, at Tulips on St. Louis Avenue near Downtown.

The film dives into the fortitude that propelled Stetson into a bull-riding legend, following along as the North Dakota native climbs his way to the top of world rankings despite tragedies and injuries.

A professional bull rider with Chippewa and Sioux heritage, Lawrence currently ranked in the top 25 of the sport's world rankings. Through his over seven years of competing on the Professional Bull riders Tour, he's been a finalist in numerous championships and competitions.

He started riding sheep when he was just five years old, inspired by his father's own bull riding career.

At Thursday's screening, Stetson shared that he believes "Another Eight Seconds" will do well as a crossover with non-rodeo audiences because of the message in the movie.

"It's the trial and error I went through in life, and just to give people that belief they can make their dreams happen," he said. "I didn't have the best childhood growing up. It was a little rough and rocky."

The film is available for all to watch starting May 21 on 805 Beer's YouTube channel
