Two killed, one injured in wrong-way crash on TX-183 at Beltline Road

According to Irving police, the crash happened at about 3 a.m.

IRVING, Texas — Two people died and another person was injured after a crash involving a wrong-way driver on State Highway 183 early Monday morning.

Sidney Leigh Dew, 40, of Santa Ana, California, was heading in the opposite direction in the westbound lanes of SH-183 at Beltline Road when it crashed head-on with another vehicle driven by 38-year-old Tyrone Wilson of Bedford.

Irving police said Dew and Wilson died. A passenger riding in Wilson's vehicle was taken to Parkland Hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries. 

Dew was the only person in the car.

According to Irving police, the crash happened at about 3 a.m. Police received reports of a wrong-way driver that started as far back as SH-161 and George Bush Turnpike, and then received a call that a crash happened shortly after.

The crash remains under investigation.
