Video shows man following woman before attack in Uptown

Video captured a man following a woman shortly before she was attacked, police say. It's the second attack in Uptown in less than one week.

DALLAS — Police have released video that appears to show a man watching and then following a woman walking her dog just moments before she was attacked.

The attack happened at about 8 a.m. Sunday in the 2800 block of North Hall Street, less than one mile north from another attack that happened two days earlier in the same Uptown neighborhood.

The video shows a man dressed in all black walking on a sidewalk. He spots a woman walking her dog. As she walks past him, he looks at her and surveys the area, before turning in her direction and quickly walking out of the camera's view.

Police said the man knocked the woman to the ground. But they said he fled the scene on foot when the woman screamed.

The attacker was described as a Hispanic male in his 20s or 30s, about 5-feet-10 and weighing around 180 pounds. He was wearing a black baseball cap with white writing on the front. There also appeared to be a white circular sticker on the bill of the cap.

In the earlier attack, a man knocked a woman to the ground and sexually assaulted her just before 3 a.m. on June 21 in the 2500 block of McKinney Avenue.

Police released a sketch of the suspect based on a witness description.

The suspect in that attack was described as a Hispanic male, about 5- feet-10 and weighing between 160 to 180 pounds. The woman told police he had dark black hair that was combed back and was wearing dark-colored clothing and rubber work boots.

Police haven't said whether they believe the attacks are related.
