DALLAS -- The circus is coming to town. UniverSoul Circus is, once again, preparing to entertain families under the Big Top outside Red Bird Mall. Hundreds of children got a chance to get a sneak-peak of the performance on Tuesday morning as the big top’s going up outside Red Bird Mall.
"This is my first time ever seeing something like this,” said Anthony Garrett as he watched with excitement.
With eyes wide, children from across southern Dallas packed Cummings Recreation Center. They were jumping with excitement watching soulful performers tumbling, dancing, and entertaining their way into the hearts of a cheerful crowd.
UniverSoul Circus is now celebrating 25-years of fun under the big top. “It was a whole lot of excitement,” said Jaliyah Hawkins. “A whole lot of cool tricks and stuff. It was fun.”
UniveSoul Circus Ring Master Duane Davis said, “It’s the culture. It’s about family. It’s about soul. It’s about feeling good and happiness. So, bringing it to the community, maybe to someone who otherwise not be able to the circus is a good thing.”
Many of the children at this special performance never saw circus acts up close. Let alone, children witnessing a non-traditional circus with performers from across the African diaspora.
“I hope they get out of this circus that it’s possible they can do anything, including if they want to be a participant in the circus," Paula Alexander from Children First Learning Center said.
The UniverSoul Circus and its international crew promise a new production, including one of the most engaging and interactive experiences bringing folks together.
“The most paramount message of the circus is to bring folks together. For them to see people all around the world, from different cultures, from different races, from different places, working together in one ring as a family. And that should be a message for the world to these kids," Davis said.
The UniverSoul Circus will entertain families under the Big Top outside Red Bird Mall from June 27 – July 8. Click here for more details about the show and ticket information.
