HOUSTON — Drake has been officially cleared from the enormous Astroworld Festival class action lawsuit filed on behalf of the 10 concertgoers who were killed during the concert in November 2021.
A month after the tragedy, a judicial board ruled that the more than 300 lawsuits filed against Travis Scott, who created the festival and was the headliner, Drake, who was a guest performer for the festival, concert promoter Live Nation, Apple Music and other companies connected to the event, would be consolidated and handled by one judge. The consolidated lawsuit totaled $2 billion.
Plaintiffs argued that poor planning and safety code violations led to a disastrous crowd surge that killed 10 people and injured hundreds. Drake argued he had nothing to do with the planning of the concert.

Judge Kristen Hawkins agreed with Drake's arguments and dismissed all claims against him.
Scott and many other companies in the lawsuit argued that they also should not be a part of the massive lawsuit although there have been no rulings yet on whether he or any of the other companies would be dismissed.
Scott's attorneys are expected to ask for a dismissal during court on Monday.
