'Scarecrow bandit' Jarvis Dupree Ross has been sentenced to 330 years in prison for his role in armed robberies in the Dallas/Fort Worth area.
The gang, named for the floppy hats and plaid shirts they sometimes wore during takeover-style robberies, hit 21 banks in the first half of 2008.
Ross, along with Corey Deyon Duffey, 29, Antonyo Reece, 32, Tony R. Hewitt, 43, and Charles Runnels, 43, were convicted at trial in August 2009.
Prosecutors said the gang members staked out targets before striking, communicated through cellphones, used stolen cars for their getaways and equipped themselves with body armor, Tasers and firearms.
