ROWLETT, Texas — A Rowlett police officer is lucky to be alive after a drunk driver plowed into his parked patrol car while he was in it Friday night.
The officer was protecting a disabled motorist on I-30 when the accident occurred. Investigators say his car was struck at highway speed.
He was treated for his injuries at the scene and didn't require hospitalization.
The woman who was driving the car that struck him was also not seriously injured. She was arrested for DWI.
