Reward for information in shooting death of service dog increased to $10,000

An anonymous donor just contributed $4,000 to the reward fund, on top of another anonymous donation last week of $5,000.

QUINLAN, Texas — Jan. 28, 2019 UPDATE:

It's happened again. Another anonymous donor has contributed to the reward fund for information on who shot Journey the service dog, bringing the total amount of reward money to $10,000. 

Hunt County Crime Stoppers said Monday was contacted last week by an anonymous donor who gave $4,000 to the reward fund.

A previous donation totaled $5,000.

There is still an active GoFundMe to buy a replacement service dog for Hannah Westmoreland.

The reward for any information that leads to the arrest of the person who shot a service dog in Quinlan earlier this month has been raised to $6,000 after an anonymous donor contributed $5,000 to the pot, the Hunt County Sheriff's Office said Wednesday.

Journey, a golden retriever service dog for 15-year-old diabetic girl Hannah Westmoreland, was found shot outside the Westmoreland home Jan. 13. The family is still looking for the shooter, and used a GoFundMe to raise money for a new service dog for Hannah. As of Wednesday, the GoFundMe has raised more than twice its $20,000 goal.
