FRISCO – Parents and students are keeping a close eye on proposed new attendance boundaries for Frisco schools.
The proposed new maps are posted on the Frisco School District's website after a special workshop on rezoning Monday night.
If the proposals pass, it could affect thousands of students at more than one dozen Frisco ISD elementary, middle and high schools.
The proposed new attendance boundaries could force some students to go to new schools next school year. Or, they could force middle schoolers to go to a different high school than they had expected -- separating them from classmates they grew up with.
It's one of the growing pains that comes with Frisco's rising population. The school district is gaining between 2,500 and 3,500 new students every year. And it's building new schools to keep up.
Every time a new school opens, the district has to draw up new attendance boundaries to even out enrollment.

You may remember, Frisco opened Reedy High School this year. It's opening four new schools in the 2015-2016 school year – a new high school, a new middle school and two new elementary schools.
The school board is set to vote on the proposed new boundaries Dec. 14.
