DALLAS — They voted for Republican Nikki Haley.
But they now back Democrat Kamala Harris.
And Haley isn’t happy about it, even going so far as to send their camp a cease and desist order.
But this group of voters refuses to stop.
In the latest episode of our Y’all-itics podcast, the director of the “Haley Voters for Harris” group tells the Jasons that his organization's mission isn't just to have a clever name. They also have to find the right messaging to convince Republicans to vote Democrat, often for the first time in their lives.
“So, what we’re going to do is tell them things about Vice President Harris that we think they will find comforting, that we think will make it easier for them to sort of cross the aisle and cast that vote,” Craig Snyder said on this week's episode.

Snyder says those efforts will not include focusing on Donald Trump and what they perceive as his negatives. Instead, he tells the Jasons, there are plenty of other groups who will be doing that, including the Democratic party and the Harris campaign itself.
Instead, his group plans to roll out a public education campaign on a “mass communication scale,” particularly in battleground states.
That could happen as soon as the Democratic National Convention concludes on August 22.
And that messaging, Snyder says, will focus on the idea that the administration has enacted many moderate policies that are squarely in the center of American politics.
“This administration, including the vice president, are not about defunding the police -- they’ve been about refunding and increasing funding for police," Snyder said. "They are not about destroying the fossil fuel industry -- we have the highest oil production in American history right now. We have more drilling that’s been done under President Biden and Vice President Harris than was done under Donald Trump.”
Still, you need money to create an effective campaign -- particularly one as robust as planned by “Haley Voters for Harris.”
Snyder says that's no issue.
“As of today, we are a solid mid six-figures bank account," he said. "And as of Labor Day, we expect to be a major seven-figure enterprise. We have both small dollar donors and large donors that are pledged. And we’re going to be a substantial force financially as well."
