CHICAGO — The DNC is underway from Monday-Thursday in Chicago. WFAA will be covering the event daily, and here's how you can watch and follow along.

Texas Democrats and their 273 delegates, are gathered in Chicago for the first day of the Democratic National Convention.

The Texas delegation arrived Sunday and visited United Center, where the DNC begins today, and practiced the ceremonial roll call when each state’s delegates cast their votes for the nominee. That is scheduled for Tuesday.

Also before the DNC officially began, several thousand self-described leftists marched along Michigan Avenue Sunday evening from the Chicago River to Grant Park, calling on Democrats to codify abortion rights, end financial aid to Israel and better protect civilians in Gaza.

The first day of the DNC is expected to feature speeches from President Joe Biden and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, but the Texas Democratic delegation begins their day with a breakfast featuring speeches from officials and advocates from across the state.

Ahead of the convention's kickoff Monday, it was announced Sunday that Congresswoman Veronica Escobar, D-El Paso, will serve as convention co-chair Thursday, when Vice President Kamala Harris is expected to speak and accept the party's nomination for president.

WFAA senior political reporter Jason Whitely is in Chicago. We'll be posting updates from the convention here throughout the day. We'll also be livestreaming on our website and WFAA+.

Follow along here throughout the week as we post updates in real-time.
