FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas — It is one of the country’s fastest-growing and most ethnically diverse counties.
But Fort Bend County is also facing some growing pains.
Fort Bend County Judge KP George says mobility is a challenge in the county of nearly 1 million people and mass transportation efforts will be a focus in 2024.
If you’ve traveled through the county on the Southwest Freeway, you already know this.
“I will take anything,” George told us on Inside Texas Politics. “I believe better mobility is a quality of life issue. And so I will work with all the stakeholders to make sure. Now, we will be focusing on Metro, buses, and all those stuff. Rail is definitely a conversation for the future.”
George says creating more jobs will also be a top priority, as is healthcare, with the goal of Fort Bend County eventually having its own hospital system.
“There are so many people living in our county. They need help,” he said.
