DALLAS — Incumbent State Rep. Morgan Meyer held off challenger Barry Wernick in his re-election bid in the Texas House District 108 Republican primary.
Meyer earned 51% of the vote to Wernick's 49%. House District 108 includes parts of Dallas and University Park.
Meyer had faced opposition from some Republican leaders after acting as a House Manager during the impeachment trial of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton.
But ads featuring Gov. Greg Abbott have thrown their support behind Meyer.
With only two candidates, it was a tight race -- Meyer led by about 500 votes.
The winner of this primary will go on to face their Democratic opponent on Election Day Nov. 5.
