Election results: Rep. Leach appears to withstand Paxton pressure in Collin County GOP primary

Incumbent State Rep. Jeff Leach faced pressure from Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton after voting to impeach him.

PLANO, Texas — Incumbent State Rep. Jeff Leach faced pressure in the Texas House District 67 Republican primary, but the incumbent appeared to ultimately win comfortably Tuesday, earning 65% of the vote.

Leach faced GOP challenger Daren Meis, who was backed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. Leach was among the Republican state representatives who supported Paxton's impeachment last year.

However, Leach was still endorsed by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott. On Tuesday, Leach earned 11,246 votes to Meis' 6,028 in the Collin County district.

"[Paxton is] intent on retribution and revenge," Leach said previously. "If he and his supporters wanna live their lives that way and run their campaigns that way, that's fine."

Leach is one of numerous Colin County incumbents Paxton has campaigned against for voting to impeach him.
