North Texas Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett appointed National Co-Chair for Kamala Harris' presidential campaign

Crockett has seen a meteoric rise in the Democratic Party since she took office in January 2023.

DALLAS — The Kamala Harris-Tim Walz campaign for president has North Texas representation, as Rep. Jasmine Crockett, D-Dallas, announced on X Wednesday night she has been named the campaign's national co-chair.

"I'm just outdone!" Crockett wrote. "Thank you to VP @KamalaHarris & Gov @Tim_Walz for allowing me to be apart of this Historic Campaign! Now, let's GO WIN!"

Crockett has served Texas' 30th district, which mostly covers Dallas, since she assumed office in January 2023, replacing the retiring Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson.

She was also recently on Inside Texas Politics, where she talked with WFAA's Jason Whitely about the upcoming presidential election.

Crockett stood behind Biden during the interview, when he was still the presumed Democratic nominee, argued that Democrats should be focused on preventing former President Donald Trump from regaining the White House, where he could possibly place even more conservatives on the Supreme Court.

However, Crockett later voiced her support for Harris at the Democratic National Convention earlier this month.

“One candidate worked at McDonald’s, while she was in college at an HBCU. The other was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, and helped his daddy in the family business: Housing discrimination,” Crockett said at the time. “She became a career prosecutor, while he became a career criminal, with 34 felonies, two impeachments, and one porn star to prove it.”

The freshman Congresswoman has seen a meteoric rise since she took office, becoming the first Texan in Congress to speak at the main stage of the DNC. She also gained viral exchange following a heated exchange with Republican Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Georgia.

“Until people decide that they want to elect serious lawmakers, this is the space that we’re functioning in. I chose to defend myself because when I went to Congress, I didn’t go to Congress to be anyone’s doormat,” Crockett told WFAA at the time. “To me, it’s hard to tell my district that I will stand up and I will fight for your rights, and I will fight for you, and sometimes that means even fighting for some of their lives, and I don’t even stand up and fight for myself.”

Election Day is Nov. 5.
