As new Mavs owners pledge support for Trump, Mark Cuban joins tech investors backing the Harris campaign

"Let's show founders that not all VCs have turned MAGA," reads a pledge from the venture capitalist group that has voiced its support for the Kamala Harris campaign.

DALLAS — Dallas Mavericks minority owner and investor Mark Cuban has joined about 200 other venture capitalists to cast their support for Vice President Kamala Harris in the 2024 Presidential Election.

The group, called VCs for Kamala, has launched a website -- which is currently down at the time of this writing -- that states the group's motives and its pledge to vote for Harris in November.

"We spend our days looking for, investing in and supporting entrepreneurs who are building the future," the site had read when live. "We are pro-business, pro-American dream, pro-entrepreneurship, and pro-technological progress."

The statement goes on to say the group believes Democracy is the backbone of the nation and that its industry, and other industries, would collapse without strong institutions in place.

"That is what’s at stake in this election," the statement on the site read. "Everything else, we can solve through constructive dialogue with political leaders and institutions willing to talk to us."

In an online form that others are asked to fill out in order to join the cause, the group states that its pledge is not a declaration of politics or party alignment, just the intent to support and vote for Harris as president.

This pledge comes after the endorsement of Trump from other well-known tech investors, including X owner Elon Musk, who endorsed Trump shortly after the assassination attempt on his life earlier this month.

On both traditional and social media, Cuban has publicly and repeatedly spoken out against former President Donald Trump, the Republican presidential candidate in the 2024 election.

Cuban's support of Harris is especially notable in light of the fact that Miriam Adelson, to whom he sold a majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks earlier this year, and her family represented the single largest individual financial supporters of Trump during the 2020 election. Adelson, whom Trump presented the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2018, is reportedly planning to donate up to $100 million to his presidential campaign in this election cycle.

In a 2019 opinion piece written by Adelson for the Israel Hayom, the Israeli daily newspaper she owns, she compared Trump to heroes, sages and prophets written about in the Bible.

"Would it be too much to pray for a day when the Bible gets a 'Book of Trump,' much like it has a 'Book of Esther' celebrating the deliverance of the Jews from ancient Persia?" Adelson wrote.

Though they boast opposing stances when it comes to the coming election, Cuban and Adelson share a common goal: They both hope to see casinos legalized in Texas in the near future. Perhaps in the case of Mavs owners past and present alike, their financial support just represents an organization that's hedging its bets.
