MILWAUKEE — Governor Greg Abbott and Senator Ted Cruz headline the Texans who will be speaking at the 2024 Republican National Convention.
The RNC announced this year's keynote speakers on Saturday. The list features prominent politicians, businesspeople and celebrities. It also features a number of Texans.
Texas Governor Greg Abbott headlines that list. Gov. Abbott returned stateside Saturday, after a trip to multiple Asian nations. Abbott has been a member of the Republican Party since his college days at UT Austin.
Another long-standing Republican, Texas Senator Ted Cruz will speak at the RNC. This is a re-election year for Cruz, who hopes to beat out Democratic nominee Colin Allred to earn his third term in the Senate.
Dallas Mayor Eric Johnson is speaking at the convention as well. This will be Mayor Johnson's first appearance at the conference after switching parties in 2023. After leaving the Democratic Party, Johnson made Dallas the largest city with a Republican mayor, passing Fort Worth.
A trio of Texas representatives will also speak at the event. Congressman Ronny Jackson, Congressman Wesley Hunt and Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz will all speak over the three-day conference.
Business leaders will also speak at the conference. The only Texan of the bunch is Bob Unanue. Unanue is the CEO of Goya Foods. Goya is the largest Hispanic-owned food company in the U.S. Bob Unanue is a third-generation descendant of Goya's founder, Prudencio Unanue Ortiz, who opened the company in the 1930s.
Right now, there is no schedule for these speakers. The RNC runs July 15-18 at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
