Election results: May 28 primary runoff elections in North Texas

The runoff elections determine the respective parties’ candidates for the Nov. 5 general election in cases where no candidate received more than 50% of the vote.

DALLAS — Polls are closed  and results are mostly in from primary runoff elections across Texas. See the results here.

The runoff elections determine the respective parties’ candidates for the Nov. 5 general election in cases where no candidate received more than 50% of the vote in the March 5 primary.

Several consequential races are on the ballot in North Texas, including a runoff for longtime Congresswoman Kay Granger’s seat in Tarrant County. Granger, the most senior member of Texas’ house delegation, announced she wouldn’t seek re-election in November.

Statewide, Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan is in a runoff in his southeast Texas seat.

In Dallas County, former Sheriff Lupe Valdez is in a runoff against incumbent Sheriff Marian Brown.

In Collin County, incumbent state Rep. Justin Holland (R-Rockwall) is facing challenger Katrina Pierson in House District 33. Pierson, a former Trump spokesperson, is supported by Attorney General Ken Paxton and Gov. Greg Abbott. 

Other races on the ballot include seats in the state Senate, State Board of Education and more.
