DALLAS — Polls are open until 7 p.m. for primary election voting. So, before the polls close tonight, how many cast their ballots in the Democratic or Republican primaries in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, and Denton Counties during early voting, which ended March 1?
In Dallas County, 104,978 of the county’s 1,425,421 registered voters had cast ballots by the end of early voting Friday, which amounts to just over 7%.
In the last presidential election year, 2020, 87,019 Dallas County Democratic primary voters (of 1,343,067 registered voters) cast their ballots early in person, and 11,560 voted in the Democratic primary early by mail.
In 2020, 38,223 Dallas County Republican primary voters cast their ballots early in person, and 3,805 voted early by mail.
In Tarrant County, by the end of early voting Friday, 105,143 (of 1,263,326 registered voters) had cast their ballots, about 8.3%.
In 2020, 62,411 Tarrant County Democratic primary voters cast their ballots early, and 62,158 Republican primary voters cast their ballots early. In total, about 11% of Tarrant County’s 1.16 million registered voters that year voted early.
In Collin County, 77,073 primary voters cast their ballots early in person. In 2020, 82,389 primary voters cast their ballots early.
In Denton County, 53,306 Republican primary voters cast their ballots early in person, and 2,691 cast their ballots early by mail. For Democratic primary voters, 14,499 cast their ballots early in person and 1,725 cast their ballots early by mail.
This marks a total of more than 72,000 early ballots cast in Denton County of 634,765 registered voters or about 11.4%.
Statewide, the Texas Secretary of State’s Office reports about 10% of registered voters, or about 1.8 million people, cast their ballots during early voting. Democratic turnout was at 3.33% and Republican turnout was at 6.84%.
In the 2020 election, 12.6% of registered voters voted early.
