DFW AIRPORT A new memorial to the victims of Delta Air Lines Flight 1141 was dedicated at Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport on Saturday.
The event marked 25 years since 14 people were killed when the Boeing 727 crashed as it was taking off.
The memorial is located at Founder's Plaza, an observation park along the northwest corner of the big airport.
Ninety-three people survived the crash thanks to heroic efforts by first responders like Jeff Giraud, who to this day can't stop thinking about the people he couldn't save.
"They're forever in my mind, because it's something that you cannot help think to yourself and I know I have over and over 'Is there something more that I could have done?' Even though I know there was nothing more," he said. "We got there as quick as we could, and did everything humanly possible, but you still carry that thought."
As a result of the crash, DFW and the FAA established a world-class fire training center at the airport to break new ground in responding to flight crashes.
