Driver killed after stopping to check problem with his truck in Hurst

The man was hit by an SUV. The SUV driver was arrested for driving with a suspended license, Hurst police said.

A driver was struck and killed Thursday after he got out of his truck to check problems with the vehicle, Hurst police said. 

The man, who has not been publicly identified, stopped in an outside lane of westbound State Highway 10 and was walking around the back of his truck when he was hit by a Nissan Pathfinder, police said. 

The crash occurred around 12:24 p.m. Thursday. 

The driver of the Pathfinder, 29-year-old Christopher Thompson, was arrested on charges of driving with a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia, Hurst police said. 

Thompson has not been charged in connection with the fatal crash. Police said investigators are looking into the cause of the wreck.
