RUNAWAY BAY City leaders in Runaway Bay hope the chupacabra will help put their town on the map.
On Tuesday night, the City Council voted to make the creepy critter their official mascot.
A man found a hairless animal at a Wise County golf course earlier this year. The pictures sparked talk that it could be the mythical blood-sucking creature.
Biologists later said it wasa hairless raccoon.
A City Council member told News 8 the likeness of its new mascot will not be used on official cityproperty like police cars or water towers.
