FRISCO, Texas — Nearly 40% of the working population in Frisco works remotely, according to a 2024 study from financial technology company SmartAsset.
The study analyzed 344 U.S. cities with populations of 100,000 or more and ranked cities by the percentage of workers aged 16 and older who worked remotely, using the U.S. Census Bureau’s 1-Year American Community Survey for 2022.
Frisco’s remote worker percentage of 39.7% was enough to rank it second in the country, behind only Cary, North Carolina, which had a percentage of 41.4%.
Allen was the second highest ranking city on the list at 11 with a remote worker percentage of 33.2%. The only other Texas city to rank in the top 20 was Austin at 19 with a remote worker percentage of 31%.
Other Texas cities, including, Beaumont, Odessa, Corpus Christi, and Midland, had among the lowest rates of people working from home, according to the study.
Less than 3.8% of workers are remote in Beaumont and Odessa, while Corpus Christi at 4.7% and Midland at 5.5% also rank in the bottom 10.
