DALLAS — Listeners of North Texas' Hot 93.3 FM heard a change Wednesday morning: News/Talk WBAP was broadcasting there instead.
The longtime staple of North Texas AM radio has now added an FM simulcast on 93.3, replacing the Hot 93.3 pop music format, WBAP parent company Cumulus announced this week.
The programming change for 93.3 began Wednesday morning. WBAP on Wednesday also announced several additions to the WBAP lineup.
Carla Marion is joining co-anchors Hal Jay and Ernie Brown on the WBAP Morning News, which airs from 5 a.m. to 9 a.m. James Parker is joining the station as host of WBAP's Afternoon Drive, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. And over on the company's 570 KLIF-AM signal, Laura Sadler joins co-anchor Clayton Neville on KLIF's Morning News, while Gabrielle Taite is joining Cumulus' Dallas-Fort Worth newsroom.
"As we move into a critical election year, these talent moves and an FM frequency for WBAP speak to our commitment to spoken-word radio," Cumulus' regional vice president Dan Bennett said in a statement. "
WBAP is one of the longest-running radio stations in North Texas. It went on air on May 2, 1922, when it was founded by Star-Telegram owner Amon Carter in Fort Worth.
