DALLAS — The Dallas Zoo delayed opening until noon Tuesday because of a water main break near the zoo’s secondary/employee entrance, zoo officials say.
“Animal habitats were not affected, but guest areas and walkways did experience flooding and areas in ZooNorth were without water and restroom facilities for most of the morning,” the zoo confirmed in a statement.
Once open at noon, guests had access to the Wilds of Africa side of the park, and parts of ZooNorth were starting to reopen by early afternoon as crews from the zoo and Dallas Water Utilities worked on repairs and cleanup, zoo officials said.
“The GREAT news is that Dallas Zoo Lights Presented by Reliant will be OPEN on Tuesday evening, for anyone looking for a fun family activity on this day after Christmas! This is the last week for the event, and the weather looks great, so the Zoo is anticipating big crowds to finish out Dallas Zoo Lights,” the statement continued.
