ARKANSAS, USA — Forbes has announced that Walmart heiress Alice Walton, 74, is now the wealthiest woman in the world.
Alice is the only daughter of the late Walmart Founder Sam Walton. She has an estimated fortune of $89.1 billion, according to Forbes.

Before Alice, the wealthiest woman was French L'Oreal heiress Francoise Bettencourt. In June, Bettencourt became the first female centibillionaire and is now worth an estimated $88.4 billion, according to Forbes.
Forbes lists Alice's residence in Fort Worth where she owns homes and ranches. CultureMap says that despite this, she is not the wealthiest person in Texas due to Elon Musk holding that title.

Unlike her siblings Rob and Jim Walton who work for Walmart, Alice focuses on creating art. According to her website, Alice discovered her love for art as a child when she learned about watercolors.
Alice has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity University and an honorary Doctor of Arts and Humane Letters from the University of Arkansas.
Alice is the founder of the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Arts and the Alice L. Walton Foundation.
