DALLAS — The UT Southwestern Medical Center has reported a possible data preach that could impact a couple thousand patients.
According to the Data Security Breach Reports page on the Texas Attorney General website, the Dallas center reported the breach on Thursday, March 7.
The report said the breach affects 2,094 patients' information. That information include of customers' addresses, medical information, health insurance information, and birthdays.
The report also said customers have not been notified yet of the breach, with the medical center confirmed in a statement to WFAA. It's not clear when affected patients will be notified.
"We are assessing the data to prepare notifications of those impacted in accordance with federal regulations," the center said in its statement.
The medical center also clarified that the breach did not happen because of a cyberattack like what happened in 2023. According to the statement, someone inside the hospital used unapproved software.
