Uniqlo confirms 2 stores are coming to North Texas malls

DALLAS — The Japanese clothing retailer Uniqlo has confirmed it is opening two stores at North Texas malls.

Building records earlier this year revealed Uniqlo's plans to bring stores to The Parks at Arlington mall and the Galleria Dallas mall. The company confirmed the stores will open at those locations later this year, in either the fall or winter.

Uniqlo is also bringing stores to Houston's Memorial City Mall and Sugar Land's First Colony Mall.

"We are thrilled to be coming to Texas, a state where we have seen positive customer demand and where UNIQLO LifeWear products can perfectly serve the needs of the various lifestyles and climates throughout Houston and Dallas," said Yoshihide Shindo, UNIQLO USA CEO, in a press release Friday.

Uniqlo projects were registered in January for The Parks at Arlington mall and in February at the Galleria Dallas mall, according to records from the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The Arlington store registration said a 12,490-square-foot space at the mall would begin renovations on June 1 and be completed by Dec. 30. The project is expected to cost $1,900,362.

The scope of work listed on the registration filing includes improving the existing retail space, adding new walls, finishes and fixtures and new restrooms.

The Galleria Dallas project, which was registered Feb. 6, will also happen in an existing retail space at the mall. The 19,895-square-foot store renovation is estimated to cost around $4,129,811, according the filing. Construction work, which will be similar to the Arlington buildout, is expected to begin May 20 and be completed by Oct. 18.

Uniqlo has more than 2,400 locations across the world, including in Japan, where it was founded, and China. The company brought its brand to the U.S. in 2005, when it opened a store in New Jersey. Uniqlo now has more than 50 stores in the U.S. with plans to open more than 20 new stores in North America in 2024.
