'We will never give up' | Two months after an 88-year-old woman went missing in Dallas, her family and friends continue to search

Myrtle Polk was last seen on June 8 driving a 2004 black Lexus.

DALLAS — It's been two months since Myrtle Polk's friends and family last saw her.

Polk, who is 88 years old, is in the early stages of dementia and has been missing since June 8

She is also a former Dallas ISD teacher and administrator. She's been active in her church for more than 40 years, where she met friends who became her family.

On Thursday afternoon, Polk's 'church family' plastered her missing person fliers all over businesses.

"My heart -- it’s broken," Tawana Walton told WFAA. "I’m confused. I don't understand how she’s just gone. How do you just disappear?"

Polk's son, Phillip, spoke with WFAA and explained how hard it's been without his mother there since she went missing.

"There’s nothing in the last two months that has been easy," Philip said. "I find it insanely curious that no sighting, no image of her car has been seen on cameras since June 8. I sometimes have a hard time figuring out that can still happen."

Polk's son said he still has hope he will find his mother but needs help to get it done as police are not able to devote as many resources as before.

"We are even more reliant now on the community and the general public to keep their eyes on anything that may lead us to our mother and bring her home successfully," Phillip explained. "We know we cannot give up."

Charlotte Lester, who considers Polk her "adoptive mother" told WFAA that they will never give up in the search for her and that they will continue until they find her.

Last month, a woman told the family that she had seen Polk in Cedar Hill at a Bank of America lot near 67 South and Belt Line Road on July 2. However, since then, no other sightings have been reported.

Dallas Police say they have no updates on the investigation to share. They ask anyone with information on Ms. Polk's whereabouts to contact Dallas Police at (214) 671-4268.
