DALLAS — One person died and another person was injured in a house fire Wednesday evening, according to Dallas Fire Rescue (DFR).

DFR said crews responded to a report of a fire around 5:35 p.m. at 6933 Tillman Street, which is about one mile south of the Grover C. Keeton Golf Course.

According to DFR, when crews arrived at the scene, they noticed smoke coming from the garage. Firefighters quickly developed a search and rescue operation after learning that two people were trapped inside, DFR said.

They were able to knock down the fire quickly declaring an "out taps" at 6:05 p.m., the department said.

"Though they were able to quickly extinguish the flames, they unfortunately extracted the two occupants of the home, one adult male and one adult female; both of whom were unresponsive with various injuries associated with exposure to fire and smoke," Dallas Fire-Rescue said in a statement.

DFR said the two people were taken to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

The man died later at the hospital, officials say.

Investigators say the fire began in the garage, but the cause of the fire was listed as undetermined, according to Dallas Fire-Rescue.
