Twin Coves Park reopening after early summer flooding

The park has been closed for two months following significant flooding in North Texas.
The city moved its Fourth of July celebration away from the lake.

FLOWER MOUND, Texas — A North Texas summer spot will fully reopen after flooding shut it down for two months.

Flower Mound Parks and Recreation announced Tuesday that they would be reopening Twin Coves Park, which has been shut down since late May due to major flooding. At the time, the park was so flooded that workers could only access it via boat.

Back in June, the parks department told us they did not know when the park would be able to reopen. The department was at the whim of water levels, waiting for them to recede, But, even when the waters receded, crews still had to clean up the park.

Now, two months later, they've cleaned up and set clear reopening dates.

According to a post by Flower Mound Parks and Rec, the park opened Wednesday for "day-use access." Camping operations will be softly reopened from Aug. 9 to 12 for guests with existing reservations.

Flower Mound Parks and Recreation says Twin Coves Park will fully reopen on Aug. 16.

"Thank you for your patience and support during the flooding and recovery period," Flower Mound Parks and Recreation said in a Facebook post. "We look forward to seeing you at Twin Coves Park very soon!"
