FORT WORTH, Texas — The new Trinity Lakes train station in east Fort Worth began service along the Trinity Railway Express on Monday.
The new station, east of Loop 820 at 7979 Trinity Boulevard between the former TRE Richland Hills station and Bell station, is part of a 1,600-acre master planned community that includes retail and residential transit-oriented development.
The Trinity Lakes station replaces the Richland Hills station, which closed Feb. 17. The Richland Hills TRE station opened in 2000. Richland Hills residents voted to discontinue support of Trinity Metro in 2016, reportedly resulting in the Richland Hills station being decommissioned.
The new station comes as TRE ridership rebounds. TRE reported 795,300 riders in fiscal year 2021 and 1.1 million in 2022, according to their website.
Trinity Railway Express, which offers commuter rail service between Fort Worth and Dallas, began operations in 1996 and has run between downtown Dallas and downtown Fort Worth since 2001.
