ANNETTA NORTH, Texas — Officials from Parker County and Union Pacific are investigating after a collision involving a company train and an 18-wheeler caused a fuel leak on Sunday.
The incident happened on FM 5 at Annette Centerpoint Road in Annetta North, about 30 minutes west of Fort Worth.
According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, an 18-wheeler with an oversized road was travelling south on that road at approximately 9:30 a.m. when it got stuck while attempting to cross the tracks and was struck by a Union Pacific train that was travelling to Fort Worth.
The collision caused two of the of the train's engines and 17 of its rail cars to become derailed from the tracks, according to DPS.
The train's conductor suffered minor injuries and was transported to a local hospital, DPS said.
No other injuries were reported.
Union Pacific said the train was not carrying any livestock or hazardous material.
A hazmat crew has been called to clean up the diesel fuel and oil that spilled in the crash. Parker County officials have closed off traffic in both directions of FM 5 to clear the scene.
DPS said FM 5 is expected to be closed until midnight while crews continue working to clean up the area.
