Tornado damage, no injuries reported in Erath County

People ran for shelter as tornado sirens sounded in Stephenville
A powerful storm ripped the roof off this building at Brazos Valley Equine Hospital north of Stephenville.

ERATH COUNTY — Stephenville was under a weather threat on Saturday night. People ran for shelter as tornado sirens sounded.

Trees were uprooted and there was some damage reported after an apparent tornado struck in Erath County. That was followed by hours of heavy rain.

No one here was injured, there were some scary moments.

We took cover inside a gas station while the storm passed us about five miles to the north of Stephenville.

Staff at the Brazos Valley Equine Hospital said they knew a storm was coming, but they didn't know it would be this bad.

ID=27074299"The first thing I saw was my roof down," said Lauren Quast. "I live in the house over here, and so the roof was was off, and the truck and all of the tree damage... I was worried that one of them had landed on the barns, because all of the horses seemed OK."

Owners of the property said they will have to wait until Sunday to get a better picture of how much damage was done to the veterinary facility about 11 miles north of Stephenville.
