Coppell has secured the first North Texas location of Canadian coffee and doughnut chain Tim Hortons, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration.
With construction expected to begin in March, Tim Hortons Coppell plans to occupy 1,640 square feet of space. The filing specifies that the new construction will cost an estimated $900,000 for the quick-service restaurant.
Houston restauranteurs and brothers Ali and Emad Lakhany are spearheading the Tim Hortons debut in North Texas as franchisees after establishing the first just outside of Houston in 2022. Emad Lakhany, chief development officer of CSM Group, told Dallas Business Journal they hope to open the Coppell location toward the end of the second quarter in 2024.

"Coppell holds a special place in my journey within the DFW area, and I've been a fan of the community since the inception of our expansion plans," Lakhany said. "The demographics of Coppell align seamlessly with the values of Tim Hortons. We believe in providing the community with quality products at a value-driven price, and Coppell perfectly reflects these ideals."
Lakhany also said the site was strategically selected due to highway frontage and visibility. Tim Hortons in Coppell will be located at 440 North State Highway 121.
Ryan Ferranti, head of business development for Tim Hortons, said the company has multiple units headed for Dallas.
In the midst of negotiations and permitting, there are several promising sites in Dallas-Fort Worth for future locations but it's still too early to disclose specific locations, Lakhany said.
Tim Hortons is known for its hand-dipped and glazed doughnuts as well as its coffee. In addition, the chain also serves other beverages, made-to-order breakfast sandwiches and more.
Tim Hortons debuted its first Texas location in Katy, outside Houston, in 2021 as part of a larger expansion plan throughout Texas, according to Houston Business Journal. Since then, the chain opened a second location in Houston.
In January, Tim Hortons announced its hunt for franchisees in Austin, with plans to open 40 to 50 locations in five years, according to Austin Business Journal.
News that Tim Hortons was coming to the Dallas-Fort Worth area came in February.
