FORT WORTH, Texas — Three Fort Worth police officers have been terminated for separate incidents following administrative investigations, the department announced Wednesday.
The officers were terminated last week.
"The Fort Worth Police Department holds its officers to a high standard both on and off-duty, and does not tolerate criminal misconduct or unethical behavior," the department said in a statement.
Officer Darrell Coker
An internal investigation into Coker began in April 2022 after the police department received a complaint that "he used a city computer to run a person's information through the Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System on two separate occasions in 2021 with no indication that he had a law enforcement reason to do so."
Coker, who was with the department for four years, was placed on restricted duty and stripped of police powers during the investigation.
He was eventually indicted on Sept. 28, 2022, in Tarrant County for breach of computer security. He turned himself in to the Tarrant County Sheriff's Office, police said.
Coker was terminated from the department on Dec. 15.
Detective Bryan Lafaurie
Lafaurie was under investigation after an incident in which he was accused of forcing his way into a home with a gun in July 8, 2022.
The now-former detective was off duty when the incident happened. Police said he entered a residence to confront teenagers he had accused of stealing from him.
Lafaurie, who had been with Fort Worth police for nine years, was indicted on Nov. 16, 2022, in Tarrant County for burglary of a habitation.
He was terminated from the department on Dec. 13.
Officer Derek Maly
Maly was arrested on Nov. 28, 2022, after an alleged domestic violence incident in Saginaw while he was off duty.
According to police, when officers arrived at the scene of the incident, a woman had reported she was assaulted by her husband.
Maly faced a charge on suspicion of assault-bodily injury to a family member.
He was placed on restricted duty and stripped of police powers when the investigation was launched.
After an administrative investigation, Maly was terminated from the department on Dec. 14. He had been with the department for one year.
