TEXAS, USA โ The University Interscholastic League (UIL) released its biennial football district reclassification & realignment on Thursday.
The district alignments, based on school enrollment numbers and geography, will be the groupings for Texas high schools for the next two football/basketball/volleyball seasons: 2024-25 and 2025-26.
Here are some of the biggest takeaways for North Texas schools:
- DeSoto opted to stay in 6A again, despite dropping to 5A-Division I enrollment levels. The Eagles are grouped with Duncanville, Cedar Hill, Lancaster, Waxahachie, etc.
- 5A-Division 2 District 4 will be a tough outing: Anna (defending 4A-DI state champ), Emerson (state semifinalist), Melissa (ranked No. 1 most of 2023), Lovejoy (perennial power + new legendary head coach Todd Dodge)
- Local schools in 5A-Division 1 District 7 will have significant travel (nearly seven hours round trip), being paired with East Texas schools Lufkin and Tyler.
