A Texas-owned business will be honored on Monday at President Donald Trump’s “Made in America” product showcase. Nokona has been chosen to represent Texas at the event.
President Trump invited companies from throughout the United States to be celebrated. The event will be held at the White House and is a tribute to American workers, Trump says.
Nokona is the last baseball factory in America. It is located in the small town of Nocona, which is two hours north of Dallas.
Employees stamp and stitch about 250 gloves a day.
“Sometimes, I think in America people assume stuff spits out of a machine in China somewhere and it ends up on your table or you’re playing on a ballfield with it,” said Rob Storey, the executive vice president of Nokona Ball Gloves, which his family founded in 1934.
The community says "American-made" is Nokona's niche and appeal.
"We continue to put classic American workmanship into every glove, using techniques developed over the past 80+ years," the company's website states.
