Cybertruck Rodeo: World's largest Tesla Cybertruck meet-up coming to Texas town

A Tesla owners club organized a meet-up in Central Texas for some off-roading and friendly competition with non-Tesla owners.

GATESVILLE, Texas — Calling all Tesla owners, fans and haters!

There is a free Tesla Cybertruck meet-up happening in Central Texas on June 2.

The Tesla Owners Club of Austin is hosting a Cybertruck meetup that they hope will be the world’s largest. According to the event page, the group is aiming to bring together 100 Cybertrucks to Dove Nest Motorsports Club, which is located at 2225 Co Rd 342 in Gatesville, Texas. The event is free, but signup is required

And if it's a meet-up for Tesla Cybertrucks, then why would haters want to come? Well, one of the options is a “rival rodeo pass” for combustion engine trucks that want to go up against Cybertrucks. Other passes include the a Cybertruck VIP pass, a Tesla owner ticket and a spectator pass.

"If you're a proud Cybertruck owner, this is your chance to showcase your electric beast at a light offroad setting at DOMO Off-Road Club," the event page reads. "Whether you just want to hit the flat offroad track or navigate the thrilling off-road course and flaunt your truck's capabilities, it's entirely up to you and maybe you can even pick up some new tricks with our exclusive Cybertruck tutorials."

With that said, if you're traveling on I-35 between Dallas and Austin this weekend, you'll probably catch a glimpse of more Cybertrucks than you're used to.

Food, refreshments and alcoholic drinks will be available for purchase, and there will be live music and cooling areas throughout the meet-up.

In April, just over 3,800 of Tesla's 2024 Cybertrucks were recalled after it discovered that the accelerator pedal can become stuck, potentially causing the vehicle to accelerate unintentionally and increase the risk of a crash.

WFAA's sister station in Austin, KVUE, spoke with a car critic who analyzed the Cybertruck. Click here for that story.

As of the publishing of this story, more than 500 people had signed up for the event.
