HILLSBORO, Texas — The Educational Results Partnership, a non-profit organization, released their Honor Roll list naming the top performing schools in Texas earlier this month. Of the 835 campuses recognized, Dallas County led the way in North Texas with 71 schools who received the honor.

Across North Texas campuses, 57 Tarrant County schools, 43 Collin County schools and 12 Denton County schools were listed.

Here's how many schools made the list in more rural North Texas counties:

  • Ellis County: 5
  • Hood County: 4
  • Johnson County: 5
  • Kaufman County: 5
  • Rockwall County: 2
  • Parker County: 1
  • Hill County: 1
  • Somervell County: 1

Schools like Hillsboro Junior High School, which was the only school listed from Hill County, were also recognized placing them in the top 12% of campuses in the state.

“I am so proud of my staff and students for all they have accomplished the past couple of years,” said Patrick Harvell, Principal at Hillsboro Junior High School. “Being recognized by ERP and included on their Honor Roll is proof that hard work, education embedded in relationships, and accountability for everyone in your building leads to student success.”

The Honor Roll program aims to recognize schools in Texas that outperform others in closing achievement gaps among higher-poverty and historically disadvantaged student populations. The annual list is based on student achievement data and presented in partnership with state and local business leaders.

This is the ninth annual list which is only released in California and Texas.
