As the Texas A&M University System pumps tens of millions of dollars into its North Texas campuses, the next facility in line for upgrades appears to be its dental college in Dallas.
Renovations to the main building at the Texas A&M College of Dentistry could start in October and be completed by January 2026, according to planning documents filed Sept. 3 with the state. The university aims to complete upgrades on 26,000 square feet of the main building at 3302 Gaston Ave.
The filings were light on additional details and a spokesperson for the university did not immediately respond to a request for comment. But system regents in early August approved spending up to $22.4 million to upgrade the main building.
In addition to the main building, the College of Dentistry also includes the Sciences Building and the nine-story Clinic and Education Building, a $127 million project that opened in 2020. The college also operates the Dr. M.C. Cooper Dental Clinic in Dallas.
Renovations to the dental college would add to a series of multimillion-dollar campus projects happening across the university system, many in North Texas.
Texas A&M is adding two new buildings to its Fort Worth campus. The university broke ground last summer on its $180 million Law and Education Building and aims to complete the eight-story facility in December 2025. A second building could cost up to $260 million and host other system entities, including the Texas A&M Transportation Institute.
Texas A&M-Commerce is expanding its campus within a high-rise in North Dallas.
Additionally, Texas A&M University System regents also in August approved the purchase of roughly 35 acres for the development of an athletic complex for Texas A&M-Texarkana, as well as the construction of a roughly $10 million public safety facility at West Texas A&M.
