There's a new way to get to and from the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards. And no, it's not horseback

Trinity Metro and Fort Worth City leaders introduced the new Orange Line.

FORT WORTH, Texas — There’s a new way to get to and from the Historic Fort Worth Stockyards, and it’s not by horseback.

Trinity Metro and Fort Worth City leaders introduced the new Orange Line on Friday. It’s a herd of buses that are designed specifically for Cowtown.

“We're connecting people to life,” said Richard Andreski, the President and CEO of Trinity Metro. “This route, we run every 15 minutes seven days a week, between 5 am and 1 am,” said Andreski.

Andreski said the new fleet has seven buses, all detailed with a Western theme on the inside.

“When you think about what it looks like to get everyday people onto a bus you do have to be creative, “said Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker.

The buses are just a testament to how the city is adapting to change. A few months ago, the city approved plans for a $630 million expansion project for the Stockyards.

The plans would consist of adding another 300,000 square feet of commercial space to the area. The development would take place directly north of East Exchange Avenue on the southeast corner of Stockyards Boulevard and Packers Street on what is currently vacant land.

Construction would be completed by the end of 2032.

This is an experience they want people to enjoy. Starting Sept. 15 through October, the Orange Line will be free.

Beginning in November Andreski said the fare will be $2.

“We see 11.4 million people come here a year, “said Andreski. “Making that experience more positive and more memorable is what this is about."
